Canadians Can't Buy A New Car From Lexus in the US

Did you know that if you happen to be Canadian you can't buy a new Lexus in the US or any other car from them for that matter? This is what Ken Wang was told when he contacted a Lexus dealership in Washington.Ken wanted to save around $20,000 by buying a new Lexus from the US and instead has hit the franchising wall. An agreement that is in place prevents the US Lexus dealerships from selling to Canadians. "It's a dealer agreement with the factory," he said. "We don't want to go into [Canadian Lexus dealers'] marketplace."Supposedly this is to stop people from buying new cars in the US and then selling them at an inflated price in Canada. Now think about it why did Ken call the US dealer? Because he could buy it cheaper in the US and save himself around $20,000 so who is already inflating the prices? Put it this way a new Honda Accord sedan runs about $3,000 more in Canada than it does in the US. So who is jacking who here?
